WE ARE FOR YOUR CARE
JENNY: Hey
Tina!! Don’t forget you have the appointment at Dr. Brown’s today….
TINA: The
DENTIST!!!! Oh no…. Not a chance…. It’s freaking scary over there!! The machines,
the instruments…. They simply frighten the shit out of me!!
Does the
scenario look familiar???
Yes… it does
for many of us out there.
Well…….. Today,
after reading my work, it won’t the same anymore.
Let us first
clear out a few things. Shall we??😉
Who is a
Dentist?
Well, they
are health care professionals dedicated toward providing the overall health of
our head & neck region. Yes, we dentists are not bounded by the anatomic
boundaries of just the oral cavity. Also, many a times we dentists are the
first to recognize whether a patient is suffering from other systemic illness
by the judging the conditions of the oral cavity.
What does a
dentist do to a patient?
Ha-ha!! The
most important question……. Okay, let me explain.😀
Once you
enter a dental clinic, you may be greeted by the receptionist.
She/he might then direct you towards the dentist’s office.
There the dentist talks to you about your major health complain you are presenting with. Then he/she directs you towards the dental chair.
Make
yourself comfortable on the soft reclining dental chair. Next, you co-operate
with your dentist by following the instructions closely. He/she would check
your oral health in the following manner: Inspection, Palpation, Percussion
& Auscultation. In oral cavity we generally do not auscultate.
Your mouth
will be examined using diagnostic instruments under sufficient light. Few more
questions might be asked to you following it.
The remaining part of your appointment depends upon your disease, the treatment planning and explaining that to you and advises that are to be followed by you to get remission from the ailment.
Now, the take home message is that there is nothing to be afraid of a dentist. WE ARE FOR YOUR CARE. Period.
Visiting a dentist for a oro-dental checkup is of utmost importance. for the sake of your overall health. Many a times oral problems lead to am array of other illness too. So, never neglect your oral heath and hygiene.
And trust me, none of the instruments that we use are harmful to you in any way. Neither are they scary. You just got to have faith in your dentist and leave the rest to him/her. Your co-operation is valuable.
Walk into a dental clinic, be greeted by people there, get yourself nice and comfy on the chair and just trust your dentist. 💓
