Hey there guys!!!

Today I am gonna point out few food items from your regular diet and tell what they are then it comes to preserving dental health.

I would show you two easy charts to help you remember those foods always. And you can also show them to others for propagating the concepts you those you are going to learn here today.

N.B: Both the charts have been made exclusively by me. Reproducing them in any other form without my written consent is a punishable offence.

FIGURE 1:    SUPER FOODS FOR YOUR TEETH

EXPLANATION:

Vit. A

1. Promotes saliva production, which aids in cleaning the mouth (self-cleansing).
2. Maintains healthy oral mucus membrane.

Vit. C

1. Keeps the connective tissue which makes up your gums healthy and strong.
2. In absence of Vit. C, your gums will get weakened resulting in bleeding, loose teeth and bones.
3. Gum diseases become very common if there is Vit. C deficiency.

Vit. D & Calcium

1. These two act in a synergistic way in maintaining the overall strength of your teeth.
2. Without calcium, you would have nothing called teeth (or bones too, for that matter).

Phosphorus

1. It helps in absorbing calcium.
2. It works together with calcium & Vit. D to keep your bones and teeth strong.

Fluorides

1. It is the second most important constituent after calcium which makes up your tooth.
2. It helps in remineralization of the teeth.
3. Helps prevent cavity in your teeth.
3. Makes your teeth  stronger.

FIGURE 2:    NASTY FOODS FOR YOUR TEETH

EXPLANATION:

Carbohydrates, Sugary drinks & Sweets

1. All these are sticky in nature and adheres to the tooth surface, hence increasing the acid production by the oral microbial flora.
2. Makes the teeth very much prone to microbial action, resulting in caries.
3. If you forget to wash your mouth for a long time after eating any of the above three types of food, then it results in bad breath (halitosis).

Junk Food

1. The added amount of salt and sugar in these food items are harmful.
2. Sticks to teeth.
3. Causes caries.

Tea & Coffee

1. Excess use leads to staining of teeth.
2. Staining gives an unsightly appearance.
3. Sugar in these causes caries.

Alcohol

1. Excess use caused demineralization of teeth.
2. Connective tissue of the gingiva (gums) become loose
3. Reduces flow of saliva, resulting in dry mouth (Xerostomia)
4. In turn, Xerostomia leads on to an array of other oral diseases.

So, I definitely believe, you all will keep these things in mind. And choose your diet accordingly. It is not wrong to be fond of sugary stuffs, but forgetting oral hygiene after having such foods is a very grave mistake with future consequences.

EAT RIGHT!!! 💙 DON'T FORGET TO KEEP YOUR MOUTH CLEAN.
